ABOUT THE IMOVR LANDER SERIES

There are 4 models in the iMovR Lander series. They are :

  • The Lander – the original desk in the series
  • The Lander L-Desk – desk and side table combined, ideal for cubicle or corner positioning
  • The Lander Lite – lighter features, lighter price and
  • The Lander Lite Compact – as above but even lighter still.

The L-Desk shares many of the same specs as the original Lander, but it has the highest weight capacity in the range and gives you the extra desk space of a side table to work with.

The Lander Lite models come with a lower price tag than the original Lander. The main differences are a more lightweight desktop, a slightly lower-tech controller, less weight capacity, different base type and height ranges plus the Lite requires a little more assembly.

We’ll drill down to detail on each desk individually in the sections below, but first let’s take a look at what you can expect from each of the desks in the series.

WHAT COMES AS STANDARD

In this section you can find out about the following features :

Height Range

All of the desks featured offer an excellent height range. You’ll see in the individual specs that these vary a little between models / bases. You’ll also find the recommended user height for each model.

We use Inch Calculator for recommended desk heights for seated or standing work. These are handy to use as a guide but it’s also a good idea to take actual measurements, especially if you’re shorter or taller than average. Visit the OSHA website for clear guidance on good working positions which will help you to take the correct measurements.

If you use a balance board, an under desk treadmill or need extra inches for any other reason, extenders and casters are available as add-ons which will give you up to 8.5 inches more height.

3D Laminate Desktops

iMovR have taken things to another level with their 3D laminate desktops. Using CNC or computer numerical control throughout production, the tops are very precisely contoured and sealed to perfection.

This superior finishing means desktops are extremely pleasing to the eye with smooth, ergo-contoured edging and not a raw grommet hole or seam in sight.

They are also extra durable; they will resist scratching, discoloration, warping and water damage. Even using strong disinfectants – which we’re probably all guilty of right now – won’t affect the quality of your worktop, so that’s something less to worry about.

Laminate desktops come in a total of 22 finishes. You can choose between 5 solid colors, 8 wood grains, 2 textured wood grains, 4 speciality finishes and 3 soft-touch matte luxe finishes. 6 of these colors are new, adding even more choice to an already extensive range.

All laminate desktops feature dual grommet holes to the rear. (Note : these are optional for solid wood desktops.)

Controller Functions

Smart phone displaying desk adjustment app settingsYou can program two height settings for the Lander Lite and Lite Compact whereas the Lander and Lander L-Desks allow 4 memory presets.

The controller is “DPG style” which means it will adjust either up or down intuitively. Super easy to use and you don’t even need to take your eyes away from your work.

With built-in Bluetooth you can link up to the free smartphone app which gives you even more options for height settings and sitting / standing goals. This is really handy if you have a bank of Lander desks in the office – just fire up the app and whichever desk you use will respond to your settings and preferences.

Certification

All iMovR desks are NEAT certified which means their use has been recognized by the Mayo Clinic as reducing the health risks associated with sitting disease and increased sedentary behaviour.

The desks featured in this post each meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA) x 5.5 – 2014 requirements for safety, durability and performance standards.

(Note : The Lander and Lander L-Desk have this certification. The Lander Lite and Lander Lite Compact meet the standards, but at the time of publishing have not yet been independently tested or certified.)

Additional Information

All desks in the Lander Series are proudly made in the U.S.A.

There are 3 choices for the frame color – black, white or silver. Each frame features acceleration damping and anti-collision technology. It lifts at an average of 1.6″ per second. The dual-motor operation is smooth and quiet.

Each desk comes with an excellent warranty – lifetime on the frame, 10 years for the base and 5 years for the desktop. You’ll struggle to match this warranty – it’s one of the best on the market and speaks volumes about the quality of the products within this range, and in fact all iMovR standing desks.

iMovR also offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee and free delivery to the contiguous United States. They have an excellent reputation along with a strong customer service and support team.

In the next section we’ll take a look at the individual models within the range.

About the Lander L-Desk

With the highest weight capacity and a side desk for extra space, the L-Desk is ideal for the sprawlers amongst us and for those with extra or heavier equipment.

The side desk can be placed on either the left or right hand side of the main desk. It’s easy to assemble and disassemble, giving you more options for workplace layout as the need arises.

As with the original Lander, L-Desks are mostly assembled. Just attach the side table, click the legs in place and join the power cord. That’s it! You’ll be up and running – well, standing – in less than 5 minutes.

ABOUT UPGRADES

There are 2 upgrades in the Lander series. These are :

(Note : not available on all models – please check specs.)

In addition to these upgrades, there’s a whole range of extras which are compatible with all models in the Lander series. When ordered with your desk they qualify for bundle savings. They include height extenders, ergonomic seating, monitor arms, storage solutions and more.

Solid Wood Desktops

The quality of the solid wood tops is excellent, and this is reflected in the price – along with the advanced manufacturing techniques and craftmanship which goes into making each one.

Firstly, all wood is grown in the U.S. and comes from sustainable forests. As with the 3D laminate, solid wood tops are shaped (again featuring ergo-contouring) and drilled using very precise methods and equipment. They are then sanded and stained by hand several times. Next the entire top is sealed – not just the visible bits – to protect against moisture, chemicals, warping and abrasion.

You are given 3 choices of finish for the underneath of the desktop. Either standard sealing (a double coat for protection), spray toned (as above then finished by spraying for more consistent upper / under surface coloring) or heirloom quality finish (which is finished to the exact same standards as the upper surface.)

Wood choices are maple, walnut, cherry, oak or hickory. These are available in different pricing tiers according to the cut and grade of wood. In all, there are 36 finishes to choose from so whatever your taste, you’re bound to find at least one or two that speak to you personally.

Available on the Lander and Lander Lite models.

The SteadyType Keyboard Tray

Woman working on tilting keyboard tray with smartphone to the right

The SteadyType keyboard tray is different from other keyboard trays in a number of ways.

Firstly, it’s built-in to the desktop itself which gives added stability. Also, most trays will give you a negative tilt of 15° which is fine for seated work, but for standing workstations or treadmill desks, wider angles are required for finding neutral positions which take the strain off of your joints and muscles.

As a result of many months of research, iMovR found that using your keyboard whilst standing requires an angle of around 20°, whereas for walking work, a tilt of 25 – 40° is recommended for maximum benefit. The advanced ergonomic design of the SteadyType actually gives a negative tilt of up to 80°, so you have plenty of room for the correct individual adjustment.

For desk widths of 71 inches or above, you can choose either left, right or central placement of the keyboard tray. (For smaller widths, the keyboard tray will be in the centre of the desktop.) For desk widths of 83 inches plus, you also have the option of dual keyboard trays i.e. one left and one right.

Available on the Lander and Lander L-Desks.

ABOUT IMOVR QUICK SHIP DESKS

There are a number of manufacturing and shipping delays as a result of the current global situation. This means that many manufacturers and suppliers are struggling to get their products made and delivered without facing wait times of a month or 2, sometimes longer.

In answer to this, iMovR have introduced their QuickShip program. Firstly, their desks are proudly made in the USA, so that resolves part of the issue with regards to shipping. They have also taken some of their most popular products and pre-assembled them to store, ready to ship out within hours of the order being placed.

The following are available under the QuickShip program :
